Kidderminster 17 - Berkswell & Balsall 1st XV 26

6th October 2007

The BB's adventure into the unknown continues with the club maintaining its highest league position since its formation 26 years ago. The game was an error strewn affair for the BB's not reaching the levels of the previous week. The platform for the victory was once again laid by the efforts of the formidable pack. BB's dominated territory for the first 20 minutes of the game but found themselves down 3 nil to a penalty. Reward to the early advantage came through Ollie Flint using his strength to go over out wide - converted. With the BB's quickly back on the attack, the referee denied them a try from the driving maul a yard over the line not a defender in sight , to rub salt in the wound from the following scrum the ball was lost and through a stream of errors and penalties found themselves conceding 3 points. Down to 14 men just before half time, Dan Rochall in the bin, the BB's woeful tackling gifted the visitors hard running captain a try through the midfield - converted.

The BB's second half fight back began with a try for Joe Cart using his running strength to shrug off several tacklers to score near the posts - converted. The BB's lost their debutant scrum half Warrick Aldersley to a shoulder injury mid way through the half and conceded three points shortly after. The BB's regained the lead with their third try form Joe cart showing his vision and handling ability to put Mark Brererton over out wide - converted. With kidderminster looking to move the ball wide through their pacy backline outstanding defence from Mark Conners, Olie Aldersley and Roman Coombes prevented the home team from breaking through. The BB's closed out the game with control of possession through close driving rucks veteran Any Waite sneeking over in the corner for the fourth try with the last play of the game - unconverted. MoM Roman Coombes.
